We Are the Heirs of Great People
We are the descendants of men and women of great wisdom, kings and queens, warriors and healers, and of artisans who bent gold and iron to their will. Long before colonialism arrived, we built cities of stone, charted the stars, sailed the seas, governed ourselves, and honoured the ancestors who walk with us still. We never knew racism until we suffered it. Colonialism arrived under the guise of civilisation, but it brought plunder, enslavement, and erasure. But we remember. We are still here — not as victims but as the living proof of our ancestors' endurance. We carry their strength. We are not powerless. And now we are rising once again.

OUR PROGRAMMES
Advocating for the return of land to indigenous people. Land is ancestry, food, memory, nationhood, and power. Land is belonging.
Organising for Black ownership, cooperatives, community enterprises, food sovereignty, local manufacturing, and youth employment.
Our children must know their history, languages, heroes, philosophy and civilisation. Education must restore confidence, consciousness and purpose.
Advocating for a truly post-colonial constitution that confronts the history of conquest and dismantles colonial patterns of power.
VUKA AZANIA IS A CALL TO RISE
We rise because our forebears fought against European conquest of their land — for they understood the centrality of land to life, culture, freedom, spirituality, dignity, knowledge, and peace.
We rise to break the chains that tie Black people to mental slavery and self-doubt. We rise to revive the cause of Black Consciousness and self-determination.
We rise because Pan-Africanism reminds us that our prosperity, security, and future are indivisible from the prosperity, security, and future of the entire African continent.
We rise because our sovereignty is under threat from those who never accepted our freedom. We will defend our land, our resources, and the right to chart our own path.
We rise because political freedom without land, wealth, dignity, memory, and power is incomplete. The struggle continues until the African majority controls what is rightfully theirs.
We rise because African people remain dispossessed in the land of their ancestors. The ownership of land is still concentrated in the hands of the white minority.
We rise because the majority of the unemployed and super-exploited continue to be Black. The majority of those wallowing in poverty and hopelessness continue to be Black.
We rise because our children are still taught to see themselves through colonial mirrors — and our people carry the invisible weight of a wounded psyche that must be healed.
NOT A POLITICAL PARTY.
A MOVEMENT FOR LIBERATION.
We are not a political party — not because that space is not great, but because we believe our people need education and healing first.
Fundamental change will only come when Black people begin to appreciate that they have agency and that only they can determine their destiny.
Change is not only possible through the medium of a political party. It is us working with them to do what they do. An entity like Vuka Azania is capable of uniting Black people across the political spectrum, across religious divides.
BLACK PEOPLE'S CONVENTION
One of our first strategic interventions is to call for and organise a Black People's Convention — to discuss ourselves, our condition, why we are divided, and what must change.
The aim is to create a long-absent but much-needed space for Black people to have a conversation amongst themselves — without interruption by those who in the first instance created the problems we find ourselves in.
We will not have a convention of elites. We will go to Soweto, to Gugulethu, to Khayelitsha, to everywhere — and say: can we get a community of young people to come.

WHAT WE DECLARE
Land
We declare that the land of Azania belongs to the African people. It was taken by force through wars of dispossession, and it must be returned without compensation. Land is not a commodity — it is the foundation of our sovereignty, our spirituality, and our survival.
Wealth
We declare that the mineral wealth, the oceans, the rivers, the skies, and all natural resources of Azania belong to the people. They must be nationalised and used to serve the collective prosperity of the African majority — not the enrichment of a colonial minority or a comprador elite.
Education
We declare that the education system must be decolonised from its foundations. African children must be taught African history, African philosophy, African science, and African languages as the primary instruments of knowledge and consciousness.
Culture
We declare that African culture, spirituality, and indigenous knowledge systems must be restored to their rightful place as the moral, intellectual, and social compass of our society. We reject cultural imperialism in all its forms.
Legal System
We declare that the legal system — inherited from colonialism — must be fundamentally restructured to serve the interests of the African majority. Justice must be restorative, not punitive; it must reflect African values of ubuntu, collective responsibility, and communal harmony.
Renaming Azania
We declare that this land shall be known as Azania. The name "South Africa" is a geographical imposition by European colonisers. Azania is an African name with deep historical roots — and its restoration is an act of reclaiming our identity and our narrative.
Vision
Our vision is a self-determined Azania where black people own their land, control their wealth, govern their lives and walk in dignity — where all are fed, housed, educated, safe, employed, culturally rooted and free to dream.
